Finally Exams are over..=)
My timetable is rather relaxed~only 9 AUs but I guess the content will be much more than undergrad ; the rest of the time will be engaged in research. My topic will be related to enhanced hydrogen production (clean energy) in an anaerobic membrane bioreactor as well as the biodegradation of micro and macro algae. I was given a few topics and I chose this as it seems rather interesting.
My batch friends have already graduated and I have to make new friends there. This is an aberration from my comfort zone and will be quite unused to it. Will miss my batch peoples!.. lolx.. At a higher level, the peers are usually people from other nationalities. This means that I have to learn to communicate and interact with them. I believe it can be a useful skill to pick up. Will go pick up new activities and interest to enhance myself as well as make new friends too. Hope to have a fulfilling and exciting life=)

Recently, I am doing internship/temp at Sembcorp Utilities (Water Dept) for 3 mths until July 09.. Working as a temp lab assistant as recommended by my prof so as to learn some lab techniques that will be useful when i start my PhD programme in Aug.. Will work till July then subsequently will have few weeks of break before school starts!.. yea!!..haha... Since the economy is so bad, it should be a good idea to further my studies so that i will have better qualification once the economy recovers.
Anyway, will be going back FOC this yr cos was informed by adabelle that there was vacancies for GLs so just take it up lo..haha.. hopefully its gonna be fun!!..
Din really have the budget now to go for luxurious grad trips like japan,europe etc so my "grad trip" will be spent by having chalets in spore and short trips overseas... hais.. Will have better grad trip when i graduated few yrs later=)

This semester i am back in school to study instead of doing IA as most of my counterparts are at the moment. From the "dedicated" ENE mailing list, IA seems so unexciting with all the countdowns to knockoff and weekends. This semester, school life is abit different without ENE clique~lecs and lunch w/o the middle row noisiest cliques and all the gossips..lolx... This sem, my lecture mates changed to my FYP partner Jin Shun and another 2 of my ENE course mates who's not taking IA oso.. My FYP partner seems quite zai in biotech stuffs so can consult him if in doubt..wahaha.. Been having lunch with my Econs grp pal ee seng, who took his IA last sem.. He's been sharing his relationship problems with me~been offering my advices to the best of my abilities=).. One conclusion: Never go into LDR...lolx...
At this moment, they already break up. He claims that he will now concentrate on his studies and not go into any relationship in the near future.(thats understandable). On the other hand, i got another secondary school fren who got hurt in a past relationship~he now claims that girls sux and refuse to go into one... THATS EXTREME...lolx... I will try my best to change his radical mindset...=)
FOr me, i will be gg on IO at DSTA(shorter stint as compared to IA) instead. This is in sync with my plans few years ago to graduate earlier. But my mindset now seems different..lolx.. Find that school life is more fun and have more flexible time, instead of slogging out in the corporate world for 8 to 5(not including the OTs) everyday... Maybe i shld continue study for Msc in Environmental Engineering to delay work..wahaha.. kinda lame idea.. but have been thinking about it...
Some activities/CCA involvements in the past few months:
CAC impresario: Joined as a programmer subcom. Its held on 1st Mar at Mediacorp. I went for the rehearsal the previous day as well as the actual event. Been involved in backstage work along with Kliff.. and wm oso( but he's not with us~heavy colour..lolx.. nevertheless, thanks for the chicken rice...haha).. Its quite fun being the "manager" of the contestants (me in charged of the band category). Also can get to see Kelly Poon upclose..wahaha... Also made a few new friends that day.. With kilff around, he nv fails to entertain us with his vocal persona to help us kill time(its a whole day involvement for us)..
NTU National Vertical Marathon: Joined the NTU NVM the next day.. Formed a grp with wm, kliff, daph and xiuwen.. We called ourself ANYTHING.. dun ask why we came up that name k.. its quite obvious..lolx.. Feel quite a sense of achievement to climb to the top of 60 storey.. haha.. shld go for more of such events lo..lolx
NTU open house: Was involved as Open House Ambassador for Students Union(although i am doing it for CAC FOC canvassing.. sianz.. Alex!!.. must help us retain some of our pay le..lolx..) Been involved in the external route with Alex.. That day was seriously lack of sleep.. Cos ysd night went to Hall 16 to celebrate Minh Huong bdae(she got binned that day..wahaha).. then sleep over at Yongfu hall.. End up waking up late for the ambassador thingy... (i had to wake the rest up.. haha..if not hou guo bu kan se xiang..lolx)... Heng our Ambassador leader quite compassionate, let us sign in at 7.45am..haha... Basically, our duties are to go around directing traffic, deployed on shuttle bus to talk to future NTU juniors=)... Was quite surprised to see my long nv seen JC classmate Sufang there.. She nv changed much tho and u could recognize her through her so dinstinct voice from a distance..wahaha.. Took a mass photo at the end~one where we cannot even see our face!!..lolx.. After that, joined the FOC peeps for dinner at Crystal Jade..

The planning/coordination was abit screwed up cos the grp was split up into 2 grps- one watching Warlords while the other watching Alvin and Chipmunks ( i am in the grp watching Chipmunk cos i watched Warlords alr..haha).. Chipmunk was so nice with its Chipmunk™ songs that i go source for the first moment i reached home..haha.. But our grp din get to celebrate Steph bdae tho.. Cos our grp is watches the 930pm slot... Anyway, we did greet her happy bdae and its the thought tat counts rite...haha

Watched I'm legend on Christmas eve.. Its was a nice show contrary to some critics... It resembles Cast Away (and also to some extent Resident Evil for the creatures) in the sense that there is only one actor Will Smith (if one doesn't include the dog Samantha...haha) depicting his emotional feelings and responses to being the sole survivor in a world infested with a virus....

Updates:
Meet up with NS friends (Andy, Chok and Henry) ~ Went coffee bean to chill out.. As usual, loads of lame and witty conversation/opinion/remarks/jokes from them esp from Chok and Henry. Realised they also have been recalled for reservist(Why does NS like to recall us during the hols and festive season??lolx)... Chok and Henry will be graduating soon<Chok-1 yrs time & Henry- 3mths time>. Time flies.. Then there is this serious conversation abt the job market. I commented that the job market this yr is quite favourable, with my graduate friends finding jobs and earning quite gd pay ( generally$2.5k-3k plus)... However, Chok say tat this may not be the case nx yr with the US general election coming and quite a lot of negative articles speculating abt impending recession(realised i v long nv read newspaper le..haha..) Hopefully the situation is not as some forecasted.. Cos apparently i am going to graduated nx yr Dec... If not no point taking up ABP also...lolx
Itineris outing with Itineris main comm~ Itineris main comm gathering to celebrate wm and daph bdae (belated) as well to watch Hero.. Wao.. The attendance was gd with ard 15 ppl attending( there is this comment by Ah Fu about how we managed to stay so bonded even after the comm is disbanded)... As usual, all the fun and laughter from the group... Attempted to give wm and daph a surprise.. Once again, me, hz and steph (the usual few to buy cake) went taka to buy cake(guess the intent is quite obvious..lolx).. Then after tat we have this lame idea of calling wm to ask whether he eat coconut annot(signalling that we buying cake for him lah..)..haha.. After tat, we left the cake at the Sushi Teh counter and went back empty handed...haha...An unexpected move.. Hopefully they feel surprised when the staffs bring it over later..lolx
Celebrate matthew's bdae(st,mat,qq,zc,ys,jason)~ Celebrated matthew's bdae which falls on 2th Dec.. Went to vivo city to have dinner @ this HK cafe which st recommended... the food there was quite nice( only restaurant i hav went to in Vivo so far..lolx)... After that, we went to matthew's hse and before that is of course to get a bdae cake( zc and qq still wanna give matt a surprise by hiding the cake from mat--Hiyo,where to hid such a bulking item..lolx)...Then in the end i concocted a lame reason saying its not for him~how convincing..lolx In the end, we cut the cake and celebrated his bdae at his hse.. after which we watched Ratatouille on his PS3(blueray technology is real gd,, can clearly see Remy's pores..lolx)
Hora/maecia chalet~ Went to clash Hora/maecia chalet.. Went there w/o informing steph..lolx... In the end, they spotted and called me, nv expecting me to be there...haha.. Lirong commented that i nv bounce le..haha.... Shortly after tat, hz,gin and just arrived(the usual gang that clash chalets..lolx)...Gim's grp oso arrived shortly after... Din eat much there oso coz had dinner at home before going.. After the bbq, as usual, CAC ppl gathered ard for gossip/interrogation/secret sharing session.. ~cant they talk abt things such as weather, stars, world issues instead..lolx... Realised how gd an interrogator Shuwen was!!..Wasted if she dun become an interrogator nx time...haha... They slowly targeted one at a time(opening new cases and closing them like detectives..haha)... Nothing much for me to say tho...lolx... End up the case that everyone is curious abt is tat of justus-->你喜欢的是一个两个还是很多很多...haha... After that, Gim they all left.. End up the rest of us sit ard for more interrogation session( This time asking 3 questions per person in rounds).. haha... cant they talked abt stars like Hercule's belt...lolx... Damien then share with us some theories like that of the 3 misses( miscomm, mistiming, mismatch..haha..chim yet true).. He seriously can consider writing books in that area le...lolx... After tat, photograph taking session by the famous photgrapher in CAC..lolx...
wilber pan campus concert~Thanks to steph, managed to get us extra tickets for the campus concert=) The concert was nice!! Altho only 4 songs were sang(including encore), but his gd dance performance and his ability to capture the crowd's attention won him quite alot of cheers... After that, the CAC peeps (Cheerobics and FOC main comm which i dun belong to any..haha..so extra le).. As jy wanted the Cheeros ppl to bond, hence he dun want outsiders to join their table.. In the end me and Lirong joined the FOC table...haha.. Again, Kliff is there to bond the FOC comm with his gd comm skills..haha.. I managed to join in their conversation as well (hz told me after tat that some Cheeros ppl even tot i in FOC main comm!!-din noe i blend in so well..lolx).. The only great contrast is on the foods both tables ordered.. The food Cheeros ordered was like wao!!.. In contrast, the ones FOC table ordered pales in comparison..lolx
Shooting(NS)~Went back NS for shooting... Been 2 yrs plus since i touched a gun le...lolx.. Went to Home Team Academy for the shoot.. ( alot has changed since they shifted from the old police academy at Thomson area).. Was abit stunned by the difference.. This time, the target actually closes in 3 secs??haha.. Last time was like stationary target..lolx)... But the range (indoor) in HT academy was much better, it feels like filming TV series (really looks like those seen in police TV series...haha...cool !!...)
KTV session with Ah Fu and Daph~ Went to KTV at Yishun Safra with Yongfu and Daph.. The main objective is to help them select duet songs for the upcoming Impressario audition.. (Jiayou.. FOCus...lolx)... Did sing a fair share of songs then too...lolx... Their singing was like WAO!!...haha.. FOCus...我看 好你们!!!...haha.. They considered singing JJ and JinSha song: Discover Love during the audition....
Guys day out at amk for dinner and LAN games(st, ys, kun)~ Went amk for dinner to catch up with sec school ppl esp my ex-roomie Kun whom i nv see for quite a while le... Went Ramen Ten for dinner as well as to update each other abt each other's life... After that, went for LAN gaming at AMK raiders.. This is where something terrible happened.. ~st lost his bag( containing laptop, ipod, ic, passport, handphone..A real big loss and blow to him~ tried my best to console him as well as offered my assistance to help call to terminate his hp and debit card).. We believe that it is a case of snatch thief~someone walking ard snatched his bag from behind w/o him realising while he is playing... He nearly breakout after realising his bag is missing!!.. Can understand/emphatize with his plight considering the amt of valuables inside his bag... The nx best course of action is to report loss at nearby NPC.. Its a painful lesson learnt : (
First FYP meeting with Prof Karina Gin and my FYP mate~ First time meeting up with my FYP mate Jin Shun and Prof GIn at her office.. As expected, its a introduction to the project itself.
EN-51AB(ENE)--Device to prevent anti-fouling of water quality sensors
What she says about this project is both frightening and yet exciting.. Its a project that no one has done before and that if successful, it can be patented and greatly benefit the Water industry... It is abt the devision of methods or devices to prevent biofouling of water quality sensors in water bodies.. This means that sensors used to measure water quality parameters like pH, temperature, turbidity will usually have accumulation of bacterias, algaes and microbes attached to it after a few weeks. It will affect the accuracy of the results measured.. Currently, there is no effective means/devices to prevent the biofouling.. Many lab experiments have to be conducted on various aspects(hiya, expected to be in Environment lab/ research techno plaza quite often nx sem..).. The Prof also ask us to join the field visit with other research fellows on a field trip to Nanyang lake to understand how biofouling occurs... So guess Dec will be FYP research mth=(
Also, i have got myself a new tuition student whose parent requested to have tuition session every alt days( mon, wed and fri).. So guess i will at least have something to do (together will FYP) to help me kill abit of time during the Hols( if not it'll be v sian...)
Deferred my reservist for FYP,seniors camp and tuition assignments. Cos i enquired that my reservist will be at NPC(Neighbourhood Police Centre) and the nature will be shiftwork meaning that i will work 2 days off 2 days... After some calculations, realised that my reservists falls on seniors camp and also Christmas!!..hiya... So its a gd decision to defer it...lolx

This year, i joining 3 subcoms- Impressario programmer (comfirmed), Cheerobic bizmag (depends on whether NTU can get the rights to hold the event) and FOC GL ( not sure whether inside annot)....haha... Trying to get myself busy(我很忙de...haha).... Not forgetting the CAC soccer team ( tho nv went for any practice yet..)
My ENE grp of frens formed this handball team for NTU street challenge.. actual event on this coming sat.. dun really noe the rules and nv play b4.. cmf get trashed....lolx
Went to CAC dinner few weeks ago... Was suppose to be an event for the upcoming new main comms(which i am not one)... Nevertheless, i went for the event as an extra together with Xiuwen and Daphne...lolx.... Cos initially tot its an FOC dinner or wat... haha... The theme that night was rainbow(which we are supposed to wear rainbow theme costumes... (Din noe abt it and not much ppl really went to the extent of dressing up to the theme...haha) Got on stage again this time... Got involved in this mini "pageant" event where those chosen for best dressed is to go on stage and compete for best dressed... Cos i was wearing totally white top (nothing to do with rainbow theme, so dunno how come i am chosen-must be that i happened to be sitting beside Daphne(who is wearing rainbow related sweater).. end up have to pair up with her on stage ~F4&M4)... But end up din win the best dress ( cos there are others who dressed nicely accding to the theme)
Went to Ah Yue concert last friday.. It was quite a nice concert(tho Ah Yue was quite late). Everyone there was quite high that day... there is even this guy (think is AT...haha)who displayed a sign with the word:站..which managed to get everyone there to stand up... Ah Yue sang quite a no. of both his old and new songs that day(reminiscent of the past..haha)...

Still haven got the photos from Sintat.. He has the photo where we use sparkles to piece out the word "FOC".. Took us quite a no. of tries and inhaled quite a lot of the smokes ( risk getting lung cancers...haha..)..My part was just the letter "O"...simple one..haha... the most challenging one is the letter "F"... Took quite a no. of attempts..Finally we perfected the shot=)
Went to the NTU Cherry Boom Campus concert last fri. This may be the last campus concert which I am entitled to free tics as I no longer joining any CAC main comm.(CAC main com privilege). Maybe they should give similar entitlements to subcommers, especially when I am intending to join multiple subcoms( Cheerobics, Impressario, FOC). Haha..CAC should also recognize the contribution of subcoms and reward them accordingly(with concert tics..lolx).Anyway, the concert was quite nice given that Cherry Boom is a rock band and the performance of rock band performing live also has this special allure. That day, we (Itineris main coms) decided to sabo Yixi on stage cos it is his birthday nx day(Happy 24th bdae Yixi =) ) But in the end, I was also saboed on stage(even tho its not my bdae)..OMG.. it was so unexpected.. The programme that day was to come up with a move that is associated with rock music. I went on stage totally without any idea of what to perform given that I don’t like rock music and have no idea what are the moves rock artistes like to do (other than the typical ones like shaking ur head which I did). Then the host 933fm DJ Li Yi said the performance was not satisfactory and ask me to “Tuo”. Of course, I was very unreceptive to that idea. In the end I did not “Tuo”. If not I will not dare to appear in NTU the nx day out of embarassment…haha..Plus there are publicity people there taking photos. Imagine photos of me stripping in CAC publications. I would not think of it…haha.. Nevertheless, i had fun that day.. Went for supper after that at the extension to celebrate Yixi's bdae.. The entire place was packed with CAC people=)
